Messerschmitt Bf 109

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is the most-produced fighter aircraft in history and the razor-edged spearhead of Germany’s air power from the Spanish Civil War to the ashes of Berlin. Fast, unforgiving and endlessly evolved, it was both predator and survivor – a machine that shaped the early victories of the Luftwaffe and fought on, outclassed yet dangerous, to the bitter end of World War Two.

This premium bookazine delivers the definitive portrait of the Bf 109 in combat, in development and in legend. From the Condor Legion over Spain to the Battle of Britain, from the frozen Russian steppe to the Mediterranean furnace, and into the defence of the Reich against Allied bomber streams, we chart the aircraft’s transformation through every major variant – A through K – and the men who flew them.
