The UNITED STATES ARMY IN VIETNAM, is a multivolume history of Army's involvement in the Vietnam conflict. The series treats a full range of topics, from combat operations and advisory and pacification efforts, to logistics, communications, medical support, and engineer activities, to relations with the Press and decisions of the Department of the Army level. 

Three ADVICE AND SUPPORT volumes, of which the EARLY YEARS is the first, describe American endeavors to assist and support the South Vietnamese in building an effective and self-sufficient fighting forces.
