MI9 and the Secret War in Greece 1941-1945: The Remarkable Story of Major Frank Macaskie MC and Bar

The Second World War transformed Frank Macaskie’s life, with a new sense of purpose. After fighting bravely with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment in Crete, where he was captured, he was introduced to the plight of Greece under brutal Nazi occupation. Following a daring escape, he was recruited as an agent by British intelligence. Though his life was cut short, Macaskie left an indelible mark on Greece, during both liberation and the turbulent early Cold War years. This book traces his extraordinary story, from his childhood to the battlefield, from prison escaper to decorated hero, and reveals the legacy of a man whose exploits remained hidden for decades.
